Having just completed MOTHER'S DAY, word is starting to come in on what may be up next for REPO! director Darren Lynn Bousman, and if it's the absolutely ridiculous sounding 90, let's hope it happens soon. Read on for more!
Devin Faraci over at CHUD got the details on Bousman's 90, which at the moment is just a script with a simple hook; 90 kills in its 90 minute running time. The film revolves around a wrongfully convicted killer who once out of jail, swears vengeance on the detective responsible by planning to murder one person for each of the officer's 90 convictions.
Apparently, the murders will be kept track of by a clicker the killer acquires, and the film will be shot in 3D.
According to Faraci's report, the kills in the script will stand out incredibly as he writes, "From what I understand this is going to be a gleeful splatter romp, and while I don't want to ruin any of the kills, at least one of them sounds stomach-churning and like nothing I've ever seen before. The movie will be rated R, but I've been led to believe that 90 will be shot with an eye towards a harder, unrated DVD release."
He also goes on to say, "Everything I have heard about 90 puts me in the mindset of a young kid reading FANGORIA back in the 80s, when horror was wet and fun. If you're anything like me that fun is what you've been looking for in horror movies - that theater-wide cheer at an inventive kill, the crowd-permeating moan when something really gruesome happens to someone's body and that collective flinch when the film shows you something nobody should ever see... followed by a nervous chuckle."
3D really belongs in things like this and the hopefully wonderfully splatter soaked PIRANHA, so let's hope Bousman can get the financing together quickly and that it's a good budget. 90 good kills might be a bit expensive, especially considering it'd be awesome to see one of the F/X greats on this, or even a dream team of them. It could be like the "We are the World" of gore.
