When out filmmaker Joe Castro (TERROR TOONS) invited me to
the set of THE SUMMER OF MASSACRE, I had no idea I’d eventually be working on,
and appearing in, a slasher film so violent it would earn a place in the GUINNESS
BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS.

Gay of the Dead
In this second part (see the first here) of my conversation with out writer/director
JT Seaton (GEORGE: A ZOMBIE INTERVENTION, which we reviewed here),
we talk about working with Lynn Lowry, getting killed but not killed on film,
and his new short, DIVINATION.
After creating one of the early gay horror shorts to gain
attention, NIGHT SHADOWS, out writer/director JT Seaton followed up with the
feature film GEORGE: A ZOMBIE INTERVENTION. Starring genre icon Lynn Lowry (THE
CRAZIES) and Peter Stickles (GINGERDEAD MAN 3: SATURDAY NIGHT CLEAVER), GEORGE takes
us to a party in a world where zombies are less end-of-the-world-infestation
and more a manageable condition.
In this first of two parts, I talk to Seaton about his early
influences, making Super 8 movies as a kid, and his first gay horror short.
In the final installment (see parts one and two) of my conversation with SPINE
TINGLER! THE WILLIAM CASTLE STORY’s producer, Jeffrey Schwarz, we talk about
the remake craze, PG vs. R-rated films, how cute Collin Farrell is, and porn
icon Jack Wrangler.
In the first part of my conversation with documentarian
Jeffrey Schwarz, we chatted about SPINE TINGLER! THE WILLIAM CASTLE STORY, as
well as his FRIDAY THE 13TH and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET documentaries. In
this installment, we discuss the passing of New Line, the obstacles for indie
filmmakers, and Divine!
I met Jeffrey Schwarz, the man behind the awesome SPINE TINGLER! THE WILLIAM CASTLE STORY about ten years ago when he’d just started that project. In the time since, he’s created tons of DVD behind-the-scenes featurettes for more genre films that you can shake an axe at, and now he’s branched out into features.
In this conversation with CHILLERAMA’s out writer/director
Tim Sullivan, he recounts some of the trials and travails of getting his very
gay “I Was A Teenage Werebear” segment to the screen for the anthology, which
hits Blu-ray and DVD from Image Entertainment November 29. (See Fango #308,
currently on sale, for more of this interview.)
In the second part of my interview with out actor Jeremy
Owen (see the first one here),
we talk about working with the original Leatherface, finally playing gay on
